ITINERARY

After swearing off flying, not wanting to stay in hotels/motels, and having the trip from hell by train last year, we have decided to drive our lovely T.A.R.D.I.S. from Virginia to California and back this summer.

This blog is the online part of the journal, so that others may follow us as we go and perhaps learn as we do on what to do and where to go in this crazy country of ours.

Virginia to California:

1. Exhibition Coal Mine Museum, Beckley, WV - 1889 drift mine, with parking lot RV hookups

2. Steckler Grassfed Farm, Dale, IN - Harvest Host & buy meat for the trip

3. KOA, Oak Grove, MO - Convenient, safe, full hookups & great showers

4. Mac’s Creek Winery, Lexington, NE - Harvest Host 14-acre winery, cidery, brewery 

5. Laramie RV Resort, Laramie, WY - KOA with full hookups and laundry

6. Pear Tree Llamas, Midway, UT - 40-acre Harvest Host w/yarn, roving, rugs & dryer balls

7. New Frontier RV Park, Winnemucca, NV - Good Sam with a large Basque community

In California:

8. Coyote Valley RV, San Jose - Near Morgan Hill, home of 4 grandchildren and their parents

California to Virginia:

13. KOA Kingman, AZ - Coincidentally, our third visit to this park (to and from Colorado)

14. Cibola/McGaffey, Ft. Wingate, NM - est. 1937, 8K ft, in the Zuni Mountains

15. Walnut RV Park, Vega, TX - Women-owned serving homemade breakfast

16. Firelake Campground, Shawnee, OK - Pwr/wtr hookups parking lot at a hotel/casino  changed to Shawnee RV Park, Shawnee, Oklahoma

17. Brinkley RV Park, Brinkley, AR - Cheap full hookups not much more info   changed to Double R RV Park, Brinkley, Arkansas

18. Northfield VIneyards, Sparta, TN - Family owned winery, part of Harvest Hosts

19. Claytor Lake SP, Dublin, VA - 4,500-acre, 21-mile long reservoir on the New River

20. HOME, Kilmarnock, VA* 

Our journey begins on July 13 and we expect to be home by August 14th. We will be updating as connectivity allows. We were hoping to bring our beloved kitty, Ami, but alas she is too high strung and the trip would be too stressful for her, and therefore me.  So, nope.
